5. Watermill

We both thought a watermill would be a nice thing to build on one of our Sky islands. I decided on using a famous painting from England by Constable as my guide.

Constuction

I used orange concrete for the base. For the mill I used stone and oak wood for the walls, mud brick stairs for the roof. The wheel used two types of wooden trapdoors (the only fiddly bit about this build). My challenge for this build was keeping the build within the proportions of a preindustrial watermill. Ali did some gardening, and had fun swimming down the water shoot

Interior

Ali did the furniture on the upper floor. The rest of the interior of the mill is mostly a mud factory (not fully automated). It can produce stacks of mud with the player doing the digging and placing of the dirt blocks. The allays help out by collecting the water bottles and the pond at the back of the mill is built on top of drip stones to convert the mud to clay. We also put in two note blocks for the allay that made a very repetitive techno rift. The next few builds all used a fair amount of terracotta so we have both spent a lot of time inside there working the machinery.

There are actually farms, factories and collectors inside most of the building we have built. I will make a separate post on them all in the future.

Close

I enjoyed using a painting to inspire the build. I would consider building from other famous paintings I’m not sure if anyone would be able to see the resemblance though.
