7. Cloud Top Peaks Island

This is a big one so I will be breaking it into 3 posts.

  • Part 1 – Cloud Top Peaks Island
  • Part 2 – The Pagoda
  • Part 3 – Buddha Statue

Part 1 – Cloud Top Peaks Island

The main motivation behind building this island was pandas. Ali wanted a place to keep them. I wanted to create an interesting build around them. I also wanted to build a big enough island so that it would have mountainous terrain a cavern and an iron farm.

Constuction

For this build I used lots and lots of green concrete for the triangular base. Lots and lots of stone and mud for the mountains and hills and a lot of other stuff too. I must have used thousands and thousands of blocks on this build and reworked a few of the features several times.

It’s quite a heavily layered build, there is a large cavern and caves in the mountains but also quite a lot of solid rock and a good load of top soil.

Surface

I sporadically placed some mycelium to change the dirt and grew Minecraft’s giant mushrooms with bonemeal. On the surface I did think about building my own more stylised giant mushrooms, but actually Minecraft’s ones are good.

I put in a path and stairs to the top of the left peak, it’s not the safest or fastest way up there. There is also an iron golem farm, which for looks I might decrease in size a bit in the future. I made it hang of the edge to give more space for the mushroom terrain.

Interior

There is a large cavern under the foothills that has several, built, giant mushrooms. The largest has a spacious two floor house inside. The smallest has a bamboo farm in it. There is a bubble lift and a train to the top of the peaks. Ali helped build and decorate the mushrooms and also built a swimming hut (that will trap and drown you if your not careful) and a secrete room somewhere on the island. The cavern has mooshrooms that get everywhere and usually fall of the island and die, if they get outside.

I put in the iron farm which was much needed and long overdue. I had planned to build four golem spawning points, attached by flowing water to a single killing chamber. I wanted an iron forge, but after various tries I couldn’t get it to work (villages need too much space between them for me to get it to function), I’ve still ended up with chests of iron out of the 20 villager village that does produce golems. I have left in all the failed iron forge building work, because I don’t mind the look of it and I might find another use for it.
